Dr. Tyson comes to the Running PTs with three years of clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics, and completing an orthopedic physical therapy residency program. Having experience as a collegiate volleyball athlete and a beginner runner, she is passionate about providing evidenced-based and individualized treatments designed to empower and aid both athletes and non-athletes in overcoming injuries to return to the activities and athletics they love to do.

Bailey was originally born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia. She attended Bridgewater College in Harrisonburg, Virginia where she majored in Health Exercise Science, and minored in Nutrition and Wellness, while competing in NCAA Division III volleyball as an outside hitter. Bailey and her husband moved to the Chapel Hill-Raleigh-Durham area at the end of 2020 after finishing her Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.

Before coming to The Running PTs, Bailey had three years of clinical practice in outpatient orthopedics giving her a broad base of clinical knowledge in managing post-operative rehabilitation, lower extremity injuries, chronic pain, and a variety of other musculoskeletal conditions that affect the athlete and non-athlete alike. Recognizing the importance of strength training in multiple patient and athletic populations, she went on to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA.

Bailey is passionate about being a life-long learner and continues to strive to provide high quality treatments and interventions to her patients. She has completed a year-long orthopedic residency program through Upstream Rehabilitation Institute that supplied her with advanced knowledge, experience, and skills in the area of orthopedic physical therapy. She has recently sat for her Orthopedic Specialist Certification (OCS) board exam, and is working toward completing her clinical Certification of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT).

Bailey grew up playing volleyball, soccer, and softball competitively, and went on to college to play volleyball. After college, she found a new passion with strength training as well as running as an endurance and recreational activity, and she has completed several races of varying distances (including 5k to 10 miles).

Bailey enjoys combining her personal experience as an athlete with her professional knowledge and skill set to guide both athletes and nonathletes in their rehabilitation process, by becoming more resilient and feeling stronger when participating in their sports and daily activities, all while empowering them to continue to strive toward their goals.

The Running PTs Cary NC Dry Needling Gait Analysis Athlete Recovery Running Injury quote icon

“Outstanding physical therapy and other services to keep you healthy and moving in whatever sport or activity you do. Very accommodating hours, some nights and early mornings. Excellent and very clean facility in an easy location. Certified in dry needling and highly effective in using this. Recently added a truly incredible 3D running gait analysis system so runners can finally get to the root of their problems by seeing computer generated images at every ankle and with extreme detail. I have been a runner for 30+ years and have always run high mileage. In spite of very few injuries, I plan to have the 3D analysis to help me run faster and to minimize injuries going forward.”
