A former All-American pitcher and biomechanics specialist, Logan Simmons blends his first-hand experience as a student-athlete with a doctorate in PT to help runners and overhead athletes optimize their mechanics and stay in the game.
Logan is a licensed physical therapist from Greenville, North Carolina. Logan played club baseball as a pitcher and team captain at High Point University, earning an accolade as an NCBA All-American Pitcher during his time in his undergraduate studies for exercise science. While a team captain, Logan was also responsible for creating dynamic warm ups, strength and conditioning regimens, and throwing programming to improve performance and reduce risk of injury for his teammates. His previous experience as a student athlete enables him to better understand the needs and demands of student-athletes at various levels of competition. During this time, his pre-existing interest in physical therapy from witnessing the recovery of injured teammates throughout his athletic career only continued to grow.
After Logan completed his Bachelor’s of Exercise Science and Master’s of Communication and Business Leadership at High Point University, he moved on to study for his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at East Carolina University. While completing his doctorate, Logan participated in East Carolina University’s pro-bono clinic, volunteered to assist in NHL Carolina Hurricanes’ movement screenings, and completed a capstone titled “The Relationship Between Sagittal Plane Trunk Motion and Lead Leg Braking and Vertical Ground Reaction Forces In Collegiate Pitchers” in collaboration with the biomechanics team at BYoung Physical Therapy, demonstrating his interest in biomechanics, active populations, and overhead athletes.
Logan was previously a pitching instructor and is trained in biomechanical analysis of overhead throwers and runners. He enjoys applying his skillset to best assist athletes and active individuals of various backgrounds to assist them in improving their function and performance, guiding their return to sport, reducing their risk of injury, and enabling others to return to performing the activities and hobbies they love.
Outside of the clinic, Logan can likely be found at the gym or pitching for the Raleigh Oaks in the summer!

“I was impressed with BYoung Physical Therapy and The Running PT’s from the moment I walked in and was greeted by the nice young man at the front desk who was very kind and answered all my questions. The therapist, Logan, quickly identified/diagnosed the problem and why I am having foot, knee, and lower back pain. He developed a plan for therapy, home exercises, better footwear, and did impressions/measurements for inserts. I would highly recommend this practice for all your PT needs. ”
