Dr. Simmons enjoys working and collaborating with athletes and active individuals of various backgrounds to assist them in improving their function and performance, guiding their return to sport, reducing their risk of injury, and enabling others to return to performing the activities and hobbies they love.

Logan is a licensed physical therapist from Greenville, North Carolina. Logan played club baseball as a pitcher and team captain at High Point University, earning an accolade as an NCBA All-American Pitcher during his time in his undergraduate studies for exercise science. While a team captain, Logan was also tasked with creating dynamic warm up, strength training, and throwing programming to improve performance and reduce risk of injury for his teammates. His experience as a student athlete enables him to better understand the needs and demands of student-athletes at various levels of competition. During this time, his pre-existing interest in physical therapy from witnessing the recovery of injured teammates throughout his athletic career only continued to grow.

After Logan completed his Bachelor’s of Exercise Science and Master’s of Communication and Business Leadership at High Point University, he moved on to study for his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at East Carolina University. While completing his doctorate, Logan participated in East Carolina University’s pro-bono clinic, volunteered to assist in NHL Carolina Hurricanes’ movement screenings, and completed a capstone titled “The Relationship Between Sagittal Plane Trunk Motion and Lead Leg Braking and Vertical Ground Reaction Forces ” in collaboration with the biomechanics team at BYoung Physical Therapy, demonstrating his interest in biomechanics, active populations, and overhead athletes.

Logan has had experience working in a variety of outpatient clinics during his clinical rotations as a physical therapy student, and has joined the BYoung team after his graduation and rotation at one of their clinical sites.

The Running PTs Cary NC Dry Needling Gait Analysis Athlete Recovery Running Injury quote icon

“Outstanding physical therapy and other services to keep you healthy and moving in whatever sport or activity you do. Brandon, Lee, and Erin are the best. Very accommodating hours, some nights and early mornings. Excellent and very clean facility in an easy location. Certified in dry needling and highly effective in using this. Recently added a truly incredible 3D running gait analysis system (with a highly trained physical therapist who specializes in this, Lee) so runners can finally get to the root of their problems by seeing computer generated images at every ankle and with extreme detail. I have been a runner for 30+ years and have always run high mileage. In spite of very few injuries, I plan to have the 3D analysis to help me run faster and to minimize injuries going forward.”
